I’m writing a post about stockpiling and Mark is watching “Hoarders”..think he’s trying to tell me something?

I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t get enough of this warm weather!  Now I’m aware that anyone outside of the 207 area code would disagree with my use of the word “warm” when describing our temps, but anything above 50 at this point counts as warm as far as I’m concerned.  On days when I’ve got a lot of errands and shopping to do like today, it’s a joy to open up the sunroof and soak in some much needed vitamin D and not freeze to death in the process.

The first stop I had to make was at Shaw’s, since Goldfish crackers are half off this week.  Usually they’re $2.50 there and with the magic of a good sale..$1.25.

2014-05-12 11.04.29I bought 10 and paid $12.50 + tax.  While I was there I also swung by the produce section and grabbed a huge package of baby spinach on sale for 99 cents!  Spinach for everyone!  OK, just Mark because…spinach.

Target was next…shocking I know.  Kids Aquafresh toothpaste is on sale for $2.09, buy 3 get a $5 gift card.  I used (3) $1/1 MQ. and paid $3.27 out of pocket and got $5 back.  Nice, huh?  Free toothpaste plus a little extra for my trouble.

I should get paid to do more.  Wake up, get out of bed…get paid.  Get the kids fed, clothed, off to school..show me the money.

Another of my favorite stock up deals is back at Target, the pasta and sauce deal.  Both have huge shelf lives and have so many different uses.  Market Pantry pasta on sale for $1. Buy 3 and use (1) $1/3 TQ (Target coupon) and 5% Cartwheel making them 64 cents each.  I did this deal twice to get 6 for my pantry.

Market Pantry pasta sauce on sale for $1.  Buy 3, use (1) $1.50/3 TQ and 5% Cartwheel making them 48 cents each, I did this one twice as well.

The best way to build up your stockpile is to find great deals like that that give you shelf-stable items for super cheap.  Ready to make, hardy meals in the winter and pasta salads and homemade pizzas all summer.  Oooh, speaking of pizza, I want to buy a pizza stone to put in the grill and make pizza that way..have you guys tried that yet?  Fresh, summer pizzas.  A little fresh buffalo mozzarella, beautiful fresh tomatoes, a little basil, a dash of olive oil…mmmmm.

Now, cheeky monkeys, I’m hungry.  So I’m going to go have my night-time ritual bowl of cereal and plan tomorrow’s shopping trip.  Are you super excited?  It’s someplace we’ve never been before!  We’re going to spread our wings a little bit this summer, try some new places, meet some new people, you’ll come with me, right?  Bring bail money.
